Claire Mohney

Claire Mohney grew up in Bay Village, Ohio, a suburb on the west side of Cleveland. Growing up next to the Great Lakes inspired Claire to learn about water quality and ecosystem issues and instilled in her a love for the outdoors. Claire earned her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology from DePauw University with a minor in Political Science. Thanks to DePauw’s liberal arts education, Claire became passionate about Environmental Justice and advocacy and decided to pursue a career in Environmental Law. Claire moved to Oregon to pursue her environmental law degree at the University of Oregon. Her experiences have included interning for Earthjustice and Willamette Riverkeeper, tutoring for UO’s Legal Research and Writing Program, and working as a PIELC Co-Director and 1L rep. In her free time, Claire enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and reading fiction. Claire looks forward to clerking in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland following her graduation in 2023, after which she hopes to pursue a career in public interest environmental litigation.
