Now Accepting Submissions!
Land Air Water is pleased to announce that we are now accepting submissions for the 2023 edition of the Western Environmental Law Update (WELU).
The WELU is a creative zine that serves as a companion piece to PIELC. The next edition will be published concurrently with PIELC in March 2023. The theme for the upcoming PIELC is “Reconnecting and Transitioning Together,” and the next edition of the WELU will align with this theme.
We will be accepting submissions of creative and written content on a rolling basis throughout the semester. Priority consideration will be given to submissions received by November 30, 2022. Our final deadline for publication in the 2023 edition will be January 9, 2023.
Please direct questions and submissions for the WELU to Miranda Barfield (email@example.com) and Chloe Harvell (firstname.lastname@example.org). We look forward to receiving your contributions!
Now Open: WELU Photo Drive – Accepting entries through January 2, 2023!
Fill out this form to enter your photos into the WELU photo contest! A winner will be selected by Land Air Water board members and will receive a $20 gift card. The deadline for submission is Monday, January 2, 2023, at 5:00 pm PST.
About the WELU
The WELU is a creative publication that is curated, edited, and published by members of Land Air Water. The mission of the WELU is to generate a platform for artistic expression and commentary on contemporary environmental and social issues, with an emphasis on environmental justice.
The WELU encompasses a variety of tones — from academic to conversational. The primary goal of the WELU is to provide space for aspiring illustrators, poets, journalists, photographers, scientists, storytellers, students, community members, and the like to give their vital perspectives on topics relevant to PIELC.
With this goal in mind, we welcome pieces that capture what it is like to live in today’s environmental and social paradigm. WELU is a way to amplify voices and talent from a diverse range of backgrounds and encourage an ongoing dialogue about these important subjects. This would be impossible without our contributors, and we hope you will consider sharing your thoughts and experiences in any way that feels right to you.
