Grace Brahler was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas—a small college town and the birthplace of basketball. Having family in Texas, she frequently visited South Padre Island and became familiar with local volunteer efforts to conserve endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtles. Her love of golf initially landed her in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, where she played on a Division II women’s golf team and began taking environmental science courses. Still curious about the sea turtle hatchling releases she saw in her youth, she decided to transfer to Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi to learn more about the environmental issues of the Gulf coast, including governmental conservation efforts targeting sea turtles in the Padre Island National Seashore and whooping cranes in the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. She loves exploring new places and hopes to learn more about sustainable water management and biodiversity conservation while studying the law.
